- Kindergarten are studying worms, so we read the fun rhyming book Superworm and the nonfiction book Wiggling Worms at Work and then we completed a Worms Can Have Are activity.
- In First Grade we celebrated Earth Day by reading all about the origins and reasons for Earth Day and them completed an Earth Day Fill and Find activity.
- In Second Grade we enjoyed a QR code Insect Scavenger Hunt in the Media Center - ask your second grader all about it as I think is was a pretty fun and memorable lesson.
- In Third Grade we continued our exploration of dictionaries with a look at syllables.
- In Fourth Grade we finished up our tour of the Dewey Decimal System by taking a look at the 900's Geography and History.
- In Fifth Grade we looked at the use of guide words in reference sources in the media Center.

This week was a busy week at Shepardson! There was an all school photo on Monday. On Tuesday morning the 4th and 5th graders competed in the Shepardson track meet. On Thursday morning the Star Stampede Fundraiser took place to raise money for a Makerspace in the Media Center and learning spaces in the pods and Friday was a no school day for students, and we still managed to have fun and learning time in the Media Center, yippee!
I hope you all had a wonderful and relaxing Spring Break. Take a look at the fun things we got up to this week in the Media Center.
It's the week before Spring Break and there was excitment in the air! Read on to find out what we got up to in the Media Center.
It's Scholastic Bookfair Week at Shepardson! Since our Media Center has become a bookfair we had to be in the STEM Lab for our lessons this week so things looked a little different and there was no checkout. So instead of our regular library lessons I read a sampling of bookfair books aloud to the students, we watched some scholastic author videos and book trailers and made some bookmarks and completed some coloring pages.
A huge thank you to Mrs. McGill and all the bookfair volunteers for the super successful bookfair this year. We managed to raise over $6000 in bookfair dollars which will be spent on books to fill our library. Thank you, thank you, thank you! This week was Engineering Discovery week at Shepardson STEM!
Special thanks to Steve Hicks and Hicks Electronic Design for their generous donation of the Light to Sound Circuit kits and for making the 2nd Annual Engineering Discovery Week at Shepardson STEM Elementary a possibility. And thanks to a TERRIFIC set of volunteers! We couldn't do an event like this without them. It sure was a STEM-tastic week, be sure to ask your children about their Light to Sound Circuit. Monday was President's Day so I missed seeing Mrs. Burge's, Mr. Mason's and Mrs. Hanson's classes (again).
This was a fun week in the Media Center, not only is it Valentine's week but we also had our Garden Moms, Mrs. Priebe and Mrs. Straubing stop by to challenge our 1st through 5th grade students in a greenhouse design project.
